What does everyone use ? Any homemade secrets

I have bought every product out there. I use a special microfibre cloth. I find it always streaky. Am I the only one ? I really like the look, but do NOT like the fingerprints and smudges.

Well, I only have a stainless steel sink, and I use Comet and my dish cloth to clean it after doing dishes. It doesn't last long, however. Stainless steel is notorious for fingerprints and smudges, I don't really like it at all, but the sink came with the house.

I used to use Barkeeper's Friend. IT has extremely fine grit and can clean stainless steel to a high shine like nothing else. I prefer the powder to the cream version.

However, once when I ran out of Barkeeper's Friend, I used plain baking soda and warm water on my SS sink, and it came in as a close second for a third of the price. :thumbsup2

Can't help with the streaks though.

According to Home & Garden TV:

The Best At-Home Methods for Cleaning Stainless Steel

Vinegar and Olive Oil

Many people swear by the simple combination of vinegar and olive oil for keeping their stainless-steel appliances clean.
1: Add white vinegar to a clean spray bottle.
2: Spray down your stainless-steel appliance.
3: Wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.
4: Once clean, dip your cloth into a small amount of olive oil.
5: Move the cloth in the direction of the grain. This will add some deep shine to your appliance and remove any remaining streaks or marks.

Dish Soap and Baby Oil

Simple dish soap can also work to clean your stainless-steel appliances.
1: Clean the appliance with dish soap.
2: Put a small amount of baby oil on a microfiber cloth.
3: Move the cloth in the direction of the grain to polish and shine your appliance.

Club Soda

I've never tried this one, but I have friends who swear by this simple cleaning technique.
1: Add club soda to a clean spray bottle.
2: Spray down your stainless-steel appliance.
3: Rub the cloth in the direction of the grain to polish and shine your appliance.

The Best Store-Bought Methods for Cleaning Stainless Steel

Weiman Stainless Steel Wipes

While Weiman has a variety of stainless-steel cleaning products available, the wipes eliminate the need for having my own microfiber cloth handy.

Therapy Premium Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish

If you're looking for a natural solution, then Therapy might be a good fit. Their formula uses a base of 100-percent coconut oil, as well as other natural ingredients.

Thanks. I should I have specified more appliances. My sink is Granite, so I am ok there. It’s my fridge/stove/dishwater,. Etc,

and @Imzadi I agree. I had the liquid Bar Keepers friend and bought the powder for the bathroom,,

I was using a spray I bought at Lowe's called Perfect Stainless and then bought the Weiman's wipes. Both left streaks and i wasn't happy. HOWEVER... I recently read that stainless steel has a grain, like wood. You always have to wipe in the direction of the grain, both with the wipes and with a soft cloth after. As long as I do this, there is no haze or streaks after cleaning. Good luck.

I use Weiman's and still have streaks....mostly on the oven sides. I use microfiber clothes and go with the grain. It still streaks and drives me crazy. The rest of the stainless seems fine with it.
I used to use Pledge and it was great....then they changed the "recipe" and it doesn't work anymore

That’s right the pledge . I don’t think we have it anymore here. It was a smaller can and more expensive, but worked the best. Thanks for the reminder, I will look out in case I’ve been missing it

I hate that the wanted most popular finish is the absolute biggest pain in the ........... and needs CONSTANT cleaning. I hate that I finally gave in last appliance replacement BUT my kitchen is grey and black so it works.

Perfect Stainless works really well on my appliances. Barkeeper's Friend for my kitchen sink makes it look almost new.

I use Weiman's spray product on all of my kitchen appliances and it works great. I never use anything abrasive on my stainless steel sink since that will cause scratches you can't remove. I use those foaming bathroom sprays on the sink and never had any issues. Perhaps there are different types/grades of stainless used by the various appliance manufacturers.

And that’s why I’m sticking with my boring white appliances. :thumbsup2 Told my husband if we ever sell, someday far down the road, we’ll put in an economical stainless appliance package. But for me, I’m not dealing with it. I do love my brushed stainless steel sink tho. I break & chip so much less with it. And the brushed finish doesn’t show any scratches. I also use the Barkeepers Friend to clean it.
